Default New plinking rifle

Marlin (pre-Remington disaster) 1895 Big loop Guide Gun. .45-70
Pretty impressed, at 50 yards and factory irons it's hole through hole almost and still MOA at 100. Suits my need for a short little brush gun (18" barrel, 36" OAL) and the cool factor of my own personal cannon

Went out to today, stepped off 100 yards to do some free hand shooting to get used to it, get confident with it. These are the results with factory Hornady 325 grain Leverlution rounds. Put ten into the target, ended up with this. Didn't bother adjusting the sights since I'll be replacing them soon, but safe to say the little bastard is a freezer filler.

That right there will get it done very easy. Good luck!
I use a old ruger 44 semiauto carbine for a brush gun.

I love marlin's! I am on the hunt for a 45/70 to complete my collection. I have a 30-30, .44 mag, and a .444. Good shooting man. I sure wish I could find one that was afordable.

I picked this one up for 500 with 3 boxes of shells. I didn't think that was too bad.

yeah, not bad. Most are $600 range. I have 2 boxes of 45/70, but no gun.
