Manners T2 mini chassis stock
Bartlein 26" 5R barrel chambered for 140gr hybrids using Lapua brass no neck turn 260 Rem
badger recoil lug
Seekings 20 MOA base and 4 screw Rings
Vortex Viper PST 6-25 SFP MOA
Harris 6-9 with pod lock
Threaded 5/8 x 24 for brake and can
Badger thruster Brake
All the smith work is being done by Moon@ Crescent Customs formly a head smith at GAP
Rifle is on its way to http://ontargetcustoms.net/ for his ARPA-TAC woodland finish on everything.
Should be a pretty killer looking and shooting combo.

Yeah, I normal used EGW but a friend was one of the factors in the near. Mow I'm hooked on the quality of this base. I will be swapping them all out soon, the kids weren't set on college anyways,

That is going to be a nice rifle. I was going to use those rings and base but I wasn't able to get them in time so i went with near manufacturing 25moa base (Near Manufacturing) and Aadland triple rail rings (Aadland Triple Lug 30mm Rings). Thats a tough combo..

I bought one rifle and it went to loading all my ammo, to me working in a gun shop doing repairs and building LR rigs. Its addictive, but nothing beats the sound of steel ringing. This is me with a 338RUM.

If you were building a rifle to shoot 1000+, be semi decent budget minded and still use for big country animals like elk and eventually moose, what would you use? I'd like for it to be semi reasonable to shoot as this will be the gun I learn on for reloading and shooting that far. So far the 300WM seems to be the ticket since there is so much info out there on that round.
I'm caught between a remington 700 and the savage rifles. I'd like to buy a gun that I can grow into and add stuff as I go. There's just so many choices and everyone has their opinion on what's right, but not a whole lot of info on using them for hunting too as obviously the bullets you would use would be different. I'd really like to get a 338LM but even reloading those things are expensive to shoot.

I like both rem and savage, I shot both and love both. My favorite is the 338RUM, just a few FPS short of the 338LP with the same bullet but 1/2 the cost of loading also. the next is the 300RUM custom rem. I have shot deer with both from 100 yards out to 500. both did what they were supposed to do. dropped them in there tracks. I also have a 300wm I hunt with and it takes game really well also. I do have all three rifle braked for recoil so the shots are loud loud loud if your not wearing ear protection, but the ringing will go away in a few weeks/days. lol. It really all boils down to what fit you and what you like.. The savage is in 22-250 LRPV. it is heavy but shoots really nice. so most of today rifle are good out of the box, don't save money on a scope. get a good scope with great glass and practice practice practice.
