Default Starting my AR build

If no one has any objections I'm going to order this tonight
PSA 16'' M4A1 Upper - Barreled Upper Assemblies - AR-15
Any particular options I should spring for? I'd like a handguard with a bottom rail for a forward angle grip and a place to mount a light for hog hunting. Too bad psa is out of lowers right now. Who has the best deal on lowers and parts kits? Anything else I should look into? This thing is going to live under my back seat during deer season and be used for hogs.

what's wrong with the ARs that they sell complete at academy? i have no need for one so it's mainly out of curiosity.

I'd rather go for a complete upper since this is my first build and there really isn't much difference in price. Since when do you have to pay FFL for a stripped lower?

here is my favorite out of all my ARs

carbine length Yankee Hill Machine customizable free float hand guard, Its solid as a rock.
Magpul MOE shorty grip (comes in handy for a monopod off the 4wheeler )

Streamlight Strion HP LED with Streamlight mount
Jard 3# ADJ trigger

Dont mind the lil Coyote

A good trigger goes a long ways!!!
Rock River 2 stage and the 2stage national match are some good reliable triggers.

walmarts here have a DPMS for ~$580

not a bad start, just start putting a little to the side and get the stuff you want for it.

If you want a light, I HIGHLY recommend the Streamlight HP LED. Ive made 375-400yd shots on deer with it at... um... night time.....

That is not a bad set up, should be accurate enough for hunting. I wish we had laws like Texas can could use 5.56 for big game. I have converted all my 5.56 AR's over to 6x45 in order to be legal deer rifles in Kansas. If you can change your own oil you can build an AR upper/lower. If you decide you wanna build an upper I have an extra Armors wrench and fixture I'd loan you, for the shipping costs.

For what he is goin to do, any thing will work

Ive had good luck out of Deltons, $565 for a complete rifle ready to go bang..
except their barrels dont last long.
and they arent in stock

Rock river barrel replaced the Delton barrel and couldnt be happier.

I'm looking to spend about 700 by the time its said and done. This thing is going to be my beater gun. It'll live life under my back seat, in the jeep floor board or on the rack of my four wheeler. That's also why this one will probably stay with iron sights. Later on after I get a few more things I want I'll build a nice AR that'll live in a case. I want a nice long range bolt gun, an xds and a 460 Rowland converted XD first though.

I just dropped 2800 on wheels/tires and another 1000 on front end parts so the toy fund isn't as full as it used to be

yikes..

How about a cheap Stevens 200 in .223?
I paid $200 for mine and it will take more abuse than an AR ever could think of.
If you practice, you can shoot it pretty dang fast.

I have a Stevens that shoots 1/2" pretty easily, but I'd rather have an AR...
