Picking up 20,000 primers for the 223/300BO rounds. Got some other stuff laying around ready to go. Just need Jonathan to get off his *** and tell me what to by

FYI MidwayUSA is AWESOME, good prices and great customer service. The order with the bullets came in and due to the weight of the bullets the box tore. One of the 5 round mags I bought apparently fell out of the big *** hole, theyre sending another out free of charge no questions asked. Took all of 3 minutes on the phone ot get one headed this way. Ill definitely be ordering more from them in the future.

Yeah, Jonathan has told me about the prices he used to pay. I dont shoot a ton but plan on trying to shoot more in the future. Figured when I can get a good deal on the any of the components Ill buy in mass bulk as much as I can afford at the time. As you said, this stuff isnt going down. Ive noticed some prices have jump 10-15% in the last couple months because of stockpiling like last election. Im not too worried about it as I have a decent amount of powder, lots of bullets and tomorrow will be picking up a ton of primers so all Ill need is powder for the 300BO rounds and Ill be set for my ARs. I need to get powder, primers and bullets for my 45 and 500 then Ill relax on ordering reloading supplies and actually get my press etc.

What do you think you end cost will be per round?

I wanted to get into reloading but I couldn't justify it since my main round is the 5.45x39, for which I was getting them at 11cents/rd.

Reloading for 10mm would have made a lot of sense though.

For the AR Im sitting at around 14 cents a round without brass for the AR. Im reloading to save money somewhat but more so I can tinker and get more accurate rifles. Im going to go with some cast Billy Bullets for plinking with the 45 and 500 to keep cost down but there are a ton of bullets I want to try for my 500. So Im not getting into it with the idea its going to save me a ton money reloading just something that will save me a little while giving me another hobby. My wife really enjoys shooting the 22s out at the range and my son will be big enough within the next couple years to really start enjoying firearms too in short its just another hobby, not really a money savings deal.

My 500 shoots the Rainer bullets pretty good for plinking. The Sierra 350 and 400gr bullets over H110 is by far the most accurate for me.

Youre talking about the S&W 500 mag right?

THe raniers dont look like theyre much cheaper unless you buy the 1000 bulk pack. Which ones would you recommend for practicing weight wise?
50 Caliber (.500 - .501) | Handgun Bullets | Bullets | Brass & Bullets | Reloading Supplies -MidwayUSA
I really like the Hornady line of bullets from what Ive read and playing around with some ballistics calcs
50 Caliber (.500 - .501) | Handgun Bullets | Bullets | Brass & Bullets | Reloading Supplies -MidwayUSA
The 300gr with my 10.375" barrel ought to be good for 2100+ fps at the muzzle, which nets me close to 3000ftlbs of energy at the muzzle and damn near 2000 at 100yds. Those would give a hog a real bad day

What powders have you used? Im obviously very new to reloading and its kinda over-whelming trying to decide what powder to use since most charts list atleast 6 powders, usually more like a dozen. That can make for some expensive experimentation.

Yes 500 S&W... I usually get the 335 grain HP or flat nose in the Rainier's I load them over Titegroup will have to look at my notes to see how much. You cant push them fast thats not what thier for.I have untill recently used strictly Hodgdon powder,H110 for the fullhouse loads and titegroup for plinking. The only drawback is that titegroup can easily be double charged resulting in a very bad day,the good is I can load anything from 38 to 500 with it. I use Varget for my 223 and 308. H332 for the 6.8 SPC. I recently bought a pound of alliant 2400 to load my Ruger SRH 44 and Marlin 1894 I used it over the Hornady 240gr xtp and it worked great.

Im open to any and all suggestions for good starting places for sure. The calibers I plan to reload for or eventually reload for are

270
300WM/WSM
Weatherby 30-378
7mm STW
338RUM
223
300BO
45ACP
500S&W
9mm
and eventually once I buy the upper a 458 socom just because theyre cool

Ive got all the typical reloading books to reference but if any of you have found a particular load works better than others post up if you dont mind

Is it dangerous reloading bullets?? I mean can they blow up when your building them?
