Well you cant find 223 or 9mm. So people buy whats cheapest to shoot. 22LR.

Theres only 270 and 7mag at our local walmart. No shotgun stuff or rimfire

LOL! So true. I was at Cabelas and was just listening to the people searching the almost empty ammo shelves. Some people bought ammo before they owned the gun to fire it....thought that was interesting.

I did that with the .308 I just bought. I was waiting for my background check to clear, knew they were hard to find, so when I saw some I grabbed them. Two weeks later I got the rifle.

That is wrong, there are a lot of stories of idiot employees at walmart spreading this rumor. What happened was, corporate shut down the individual store ordering system and are only giving the stores what theyve got. Since the ammo is selling so fast each store is only getting a set amount as they dont have to worry about stocking too much at any particular store since none of it sitting on the shelf for too long.

As much as I dislike walmart theyre one of our(gun enthusiats) better allies. I dont believe its necessarily due to their coporate guys liking guns, but there is a profit to be made and we all know walmart is all about profits. Theyre not stopping the sale of guns or ammo as some places would have you believe. On one of the local forums someone posted the response from walmart corporate about the rumor of them ceasing to sell gun stuff. The simple answer is they just cant get enough to sell so theyve shut down the internal ordering system on 223, 9mm, 40sw, 45acp, 308 and 22lr.

I was in Wal Mart for over 2 hours the other night waiting for .45acp to come off the truck. I was third in line. The first guy bought 3 boxes. The next guy bought 2boxes. I stepped up and asked for mine and the clerk said, "Nope". They only got 5 boxes in on the pallet of.45acp. I'm not doing it anymore. My wife went to a local sporting goods store looking for running shoes and decided to ask. Of course they had ammo! lol We got two 50ct boxes of Remingtons for $45.

For you fellow PT guys I'll tell you; Dick's Sporting Goods is the spot. Nobody (including myself) thinks of them for ammo. I hope it stays that way in my area. I looked for 3 weeks and waited in lines for nothing. I was one day away from just ordering online. Hope this helps for you guys that were in my same position.
