CO emissions/registration for a diesel converted vehicle?
Anyone know what the implications of taking a gas vehicle and converting it to diesel would be as far as emissions and registration in Colorado? What emissions standards would it be subject to? Is there anything that would have to be done with the VIN numbers from the donor or "host" vehicle?
I'm kicking around the idea of getting a 99-02 RSCB 1/2 ton and putting an LBZ drivetrain into it, just trying to work through all of the implications in my head before I decide if it's worth doing or not. I live in an emissions-required county (Jefferson), but could possibly register the finished vehicle at my dad's address, which is in a non-emissions required county (Park).

From what I read on the net you can get it re- registered as a diesel but its pain in the ***. I could not find any rules on line but it almost sounds like it had to be an option on the particular class of vehicle. So a 1500 would not qualify.
From a legal stand point I think you should get a 2500 and shorten it. That way if they change the law for emissions testing you will still be ok.
Re- registering as a engine swap vehicle is a pain in the *** in any state and if you don't do it there way the won't allow you to register it. Also once you start the process, They keep a record of it. Remember every thing is digital now.
