Kingdon Drags in Lodi May 18-20th
They are having a reunion drag race at the old Kingdon Drag Stip in Lodi on May18-20th. Not sure if anyone went last year but it was a blast. I'm going to go again this year. Anyone plan on going too? Here are the details:
Stockton CA -- The once legendary Kingdon Drag strip will roar again with the sound of thundering horsepower while offering a festival style environment ideal for families and all car and motorcycle enthusiasts. The event will include fastest car competitions with cash prizes; timed runs for NHRA approved motorcycles, Car and Bike shows, Exhibitions by high speed competitors and a wide variety of food vendors and exhibitors. Competitors are expected from all over California.
A group of local business owners with connections to the Kingdon Airport, the car show and racing community have joined forces to promote a weekend of education on the dangers of illegal street racing. The event will not only feature education, it will also be a fun filled weekend packed full of safe racing monitored under the guidelines of NHRA (National Hot Rod Association).
A spokesperson for the promoters said, “There are many programs across the country and in California dedicated to this cause that have made a significant impact on decreasing the number of injuries; deaths and citations issued relating to illegal street racing. Due to the recent losses of our youth in Stockton, Lodi and Tracy we feel it is important to provide safe alternatives and education to our community.”
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Stockton Police Department “DRAG NET” program for the prevention of Illegal Street Racing, Lincoln High Jr. ROTC and Alumni Association, Sierra High School FFA, Bear Creek High School Base Ball Team and the Lodi Jr. Flames.
The Event will be held May 18th, 19th and 20th 2007 at The Kingdon Airport. The Airport is located at the corner of DeVries and Armstrong Roads, between Lodi and Stockton. Admission is $20.00 per Carload and competitors may run their cars for $20.00 as well. Visit www.KingdonDrags.com for further information and competitor registration forms.
The Kingdon Drags is a 100% volunteer based event. If you are a vendor and interested in participating or sponsoring the event please contact Shell Brodnax at 209-623-5809 or the Promotion office at 209.334.2961 for more information.

Here is a pic of my truck from last year. The track prep wasn't the greatest and I'm not sure if it will be this year either. I would highly suggest you bring a set of slicks if you have them. My aunt lives less than 10 minutes away so I'm going to just change my slicks at her house those mornings. Anyone else intreseted in changing them out at her house is more than welcome to, that way you won't have to run with the extra weight of the jack and you won't be driving a bunch of miles on your slicks.
