I like the design to do two springs at once with the heads still on. Seems easiest and worth the extra money. As i said I bought one for a decent price but the seller wrote the address down wrong when he shipped it and he did not include a return address so it ended up at a usps sort facility and although I filed the paper work to get it sent back to me its unlikely I will get it at all. So I get to pay for it twice. Why did you like the cheap auto parts store style better? I'm thinking it would work fine for the front springs but the back ones near the firewall are my concern.

The cheap one can be used on all 8 cylinders, even the back 2. The dual spring compressor may be ok with stock springs but when it comes to installing heavier springs its almost impossible to line up both retainers to install the locks.
